SIL Chair offers first update to Council

The chair of Sechelt Innovations Limited says they’re ready to get out and sell businesses on setting up in the District.

SIL was created last year, with a budget of 300-thousand dollars and a mission to bring in 3 business investments that create at least 30 jobs within a year.

In his first update for Council, Chris Fawcus explained they think of themselves more as a sales and marketing organization than an economic development agency.  And he says they’re targeting businesses that fit a specific mold.

Fawcus also says there’s a lot of potential for Sechelt in trying to attract Lower Mainland businesses feeling the squeeze of rising land costs.
