Capilano University says the Faculty Association is ramping up job action to a full scale walkout this morning, so all classes have been cancelled — including at the Sunshine Coast campus in Sechelt.
As late as yesterday the Capilano Faculty Association was sounding optimistic that it wouldn’t have to hit the picket lines, but mediated talks didn’t result in a breakthrough.
The key issues are job security, academic freedom and better compensation for “non-regular” faculty.
The University says it’s working on ways to let students complete their coursework, and for now final exams will go ahead as scheduled.
