BC Ferry Coalition is urging people to speak out on proposed fare caps

Ferry fares went up this week and the BC Ferry Coalition is urging people, and local governments to speak out on the proposed fare caps for the company’s next performance term.

The Ferry Commissioner’s preliminary report suggests a cap of 1.9 per cent a year for the four years starting in April of 2016.

The Coalition’s Jef Keighley says between now and June 30th the Commissioner needs to hear a clear message.

The Coalition is also urging people to lobby the province to push for more federal government funding for BC Ferries terminals and ships.

The Commissioner’s final report is due by the end of September.
