Crowder won't run again in 2015

It looks like Nanaimo is going to have two new MPs after the 2015 election.

The NDP’s Jean Crowder announced this morning that she’s stepping down at the end of her term.

Crowder has represented Nanaimo-Cowichan since 2004, but riding re-distribution means Nanaimo-Cowichan is disappearing. It’s being replaced by a Nanaimo-Ladysmith riding and a Cowichan-Malahat-Langford riding to the south.  She says that is part of the reason for her decision.

Crowder also says her duties as an MP have been keeping her from spending time with her family and it’s time to right that balance.

Late last year, Nanaimo-Alberni MP James Lunney announced he won’t be seeking re-election.  That riding is also being split
