The Nanaimo-Ladysmith Federal Liberals have their candidate for the upcoming election.
Tim Tessier was acclaimed during a formal Candidate Selection Meeting on Sunday at the Grand Hotel in Nanaimo.
Tessier, who moved to Nanaimo in 2007, has a background in marketing, consulting and real estate. He says it felt like the right time to get involved in federal politics, and he wants to be a strong advocate for the central island.
Tessier says creating sustainable jobs is high on his priority list.
Tessier says ensuring the health care system is properly funded is also a major issue.
He will be up against the NDP candidate Sheila Malcolmson, Paul Manly with the Green Party and the Conservative’s Mark MacDonald.
Tessier acknowledges it’s going to be a tough race, but he says voters need to consider who will have the strongest voice.
