Insurance and shots should be top of mind for March break travellers

Students from School District 46 (Sunshine Coast) are off on March break, which means a lot of families will be hitting the road.

Health officials and travel experts say recent measles outbreaks and stories of people facing huge medical bills in other countries, have made travellers more aware of taking precautions.

Kathy Allegretto is a manager with Coastal Community Insurance Services.

She says people should consider insurance, even for travel to another province.

Sunshine Coast Medical Health Officer Dr. Paul Martiquet says preparing for travel is a good reminder to check your vaccinations are up to date.
