Council opts to wait for report before deciding on watershed board

Debate reached a boiling point Monday, over whether Nanaimo needs to establish a watershed board to oversee the area where the city draws its drinking water.

Vancouver Island Water Watch is trying to get the City to go in that direction.

And Councillors seem to agree on the value of a special board, but not on how to set it up.

Councillor Jim Kipp argued there’s no doubt about whether Nanaimo should have one.

And Councillor Bill Bestwick says there’s no point in waiting.
