RCMP have taken over the investigation of a Thursday night fire in Nanaimo.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue says crews were called out to the fire in the 6200 block of Sechelt Drive early in the evening of March 5th.
When they got there, firefighters were told the homeowner had put out the fire, which was in a attached garage that had been converted into a suite.
Fire crews stayed on site to make sure it really was out, then worked to clear the smoke from the building.
A Fire Prevention Officer determined the fire was suspicious and handed the file over to RCMP.
