A man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to jail time for breaking into a Nanaimo business. 34-year-old Stuart Gregg broke into Sports Barbers on Saturday morning.

He was caught in the act by an off-duty RCMP Constable Mark Long. As Cst. Long tried to stop Gregg from leaving the scene, Long was bear-sprayed in the face. Gregg was arrested shortly after, following a brief police chase.

He appeared in provincial court on Monday, January 21, and was sentenced to 2 years less a day in prison.
