A woman was knocked to the ground and slightly injured after her purse was nabbed by a man riding a mountain bike.

It happened on Dufferin Crescent near Bowen Road on Thursday, February 26 at 5:15 pm.

The 56-year-old woman was walking along the upper section of Dufferin Crescent towards Boundary Ave after visiting the bank. She told police that she suddenly she felt her purse being pulled away from her and she had no time to react. She called 9-1-1 but officers weren’t able to find the suspect.

He is described as white, 5 ft. 7, in his mid-twenties, with long, unkempt blond hair. He was wearing a dark ball cap and a dark jacket with a grey hoodie underneath. The woman didn’t get a good look at the bike he was riding.

Constable Gary O’Brien says the woman’s rent money was in her purse when it was stolen.
