Strange tale of missing horse tails in Cowichan Valley

North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP are looking into complaints from a farmer who says her horses had their tails sheared off. North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP Cpl. Krista Hobday said since March 2013, the same farmer has had seven of her horses targeted by thieves. The most recent incident happened January 12, when five horses had their tails snipped off and stolen.

“We have to find out what actually enticed somebody to do this, and hopefully that will help narrow down our suspects,” said Hobday. “We’re going to need the public’s help on this one.”

RCMP believe the thefts happened during the night. They are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or contact North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP.
