Powell River Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons is calling on the Transportation Minister to halt the scheduled BC Ferries fare increase.
Fares are set to rise again April 1st.
Yesterday at the Legislature, Simons said that doesn’t make sense, because the latest numbers from Ferries prove rising fares are creating cycle of dropping ridership followed by increases to make up the lost revenue.
Todd Stone says the government is doing everything it can to hold the line on fares, and he accuses the NDP of trying to block initiatives that will help; like a possible bridge to Gabriola and the Denman Island cable ferry.
