Man fined for illegally shooting bear

A Roberts Creek man has been fined a thousand dollars for illegally shooting a black bear.

The incident happened back in June of 2012, but the case was just resolved this week in Sechelt Provincial Court.

The man was charged with “Hunting or Carrying a Firearm Without a License” under the Wildlife Act.

Conservation Officers say the situation was made worse because the bear was only wounded, and they had reports of it being seen limping for several months afterward.
