Fuller's family "guardedly optimistic" about his recovery

The promise of an update on the condition of City Councillor Gord Fuller drew a crowd of concerned community members to Nanaimo’s Colliery Dams on Thursday afternoon.

Fuller suffered a major heart attack on Sunday and has been in intensive care at NRGH ever since.

Fuller’s brother Robert says Gord is breathing on his own, and the family remains “guardedly optimistic” about his recovery.

Robert says the family is “flabbergasted” by the outpouring of support from the community. He says there’s not much people can do to help at this point, other than be kind to each other and appreciate life.

Fuller is a well-known community activist and helped found the Nanaimo 7-10 Club, which offers a free hot breakfast and bagged lunch to people who would otherwise go hungry. He was elected to council in November after running in four previous elections.
