DNBIA proposing evening market for Diana Krall Plaza

Nanaimo’s Diana Krall Plaza is often empty, so the Downtown Nanaimo BIA has come up with a way to jazz it up on Friday evenings during the summer. DNBIA Marketing and Events Coordinator Robyn Tonack says an evening market, including various vendors and live performers, would be a great way to draw more people downtown.

Tonack says the evening market would operate in addition to the Friday afternoon Farm Market, which many people can’t make it to. But the DNBIA already has enough on their plate, so they’re looking for individuals or organizations willing to take on the challenge of coordinating the market for 16 weeks in the summer, starting in May. She says the DNBIA would provide some seed money to help make it happen.

The Request for Proposal is available on their website. RFPs have to be submitted by February 14 and they’ll make a decision by February 21, 2014.
