Sunshine Coast RCMP say charges laid after suspected impaired driving crash

Sunshine Coast RCMP say it’s lucky an accident involving a suspected impaired driver wasn’t any worse.

The woman crashed her car on the Langdale bypass late Saturday night.

The car ended up heavily damaged, and stuck on the concrete barrier. The driver had to be pulled from the wreckage by firefighters.

She was taken to hospital with broken ribs.

Police say she smelled of liquor and showed other signs of drinking, so they ordered a blood sample.  As a result, the woman was given an immediate driving suspension. She’s also facing a criminal charge of impaired driving.

Cst Harrison Mohr says, “This driver is lucky she did not sustain more serious injuries, and did not hit anyone else. This is another reminder of how dangerous drinking and driving really is, and the RCMP encourages everyone to take a stand against impaired driving. It’s just not worth the risk.”
