Sechelt passes 2014 budget that holds line on taxes

Sechelt has passed its 2014 budget.

Councillors gave final approval to the financial plan Wednesday night.

There’s no increase in the tax rate.

Holding the line on taxes is usually good news for any local government, but Councillor Chris Moore points out the District is still too reliant on a residential tax base.

Increasing the industrial and commercial base is one of the reasons the District created the business development company “Sechelt Innovations Limited” with a mandate of generating at least 3 business investments that create at least 30 jobs within their first year.
