Vancouver Coastal Health isn’t commenting on a Sunshine Coast woman’s lawsuit over their handling of her mentally unstable daughter.
The suit names VCH, St Mary’s Hospital, and a doctor and nurse on staff.
It claims the teen was taken to St. Mary’s by RCMP in January of 2013 and shortly after being released, she beat her mother with a baseball bat.
She’d been taken to hospital just a few months earlier, and the suit claims VCH, the hospital and the staff failed to act properly given that past history.
The woman says as a result they should be liable for damages from the assault.
Although the incidents date back a year, the suit was just filed this month, and no responses have been filed by the defendants.
A date for the case to go before a judge hasn’t been set.
