Nanaimo man charged after attempted break-in

Nanaimo RCMP made an arrest early this morning after an attempted break-in.
A woman on Watkin St called 9-1-1 after a man tried to get into her house at 3:18am.
Sergeant Sheryl Armstrong says an RCMP officer in the area saw the suspect crouching in a nearby alley and tried to arrest him.
A police dog tracked the suspect and he was arrested at a building on Crace St. He resisted arrest and received minor injuries.
The 23 year old suspect, who is well-known to police, was taken to NRGH for treatment.
He’s now back in police custody and facing a handful of charges.
The man appeared in court today. He has been remanded into custody until his next court date on January 22, 2015.
