Businesses from Nanaimo, Sechelt and Ladysmith have made the semi-finals in the 12th annual Small Business BC Awards.
Small Business BC’s Rory Beaupre says there are 10 categories, and the public voted for 10 semi-finalists in each.
Nanaimo and Voyager Magazine is up for Best Immigrant Entrepreneur, and Iron Oxide Art Supplies is nominated for Best Emerging Entrepreneur. Sechelt’s Target Marine (makers of Northern Devine Caviar) is nominated for Best International Trade, and Ladysmith’s Coast Salish Development Corporation is up for Best Community Impact.
Beaupre says it’s going to take a bit of work for a business to make the top 5.
That Dragon’s Den style pitch will determine the eventual winners.
The top 5 in each category will be announced January 30th. The Small Business BC Awards are handed out in February.
