The City of Nanaimo and CUPE Local 401 have ratified a new collective agreement covering about 750 workers.
It covers the period from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016.
It includes a six per cent wage increase over that time, plus small improvements to employee benefits and allowances. Employees will get a two per cent on January 1, 2015, one per cent on January 1, 2016 and one per cent on July 1, 2016.
It also includes the implementation of a new job evaluation plan.
“The City is pleased to have concluded this round of bargaining in a productive and professional manner and I want to thank all of those who were involved in the process,” said Mayor Bill McKay. “We look forward to a continuation of our good relationship with the Union and our employees who provide such excellent service to the community.”
