Some of the smoke from the interior has made its way to the Sunshine Coast.
Trevor Pike, Fire Chief of the Sechelt Fire Department is confirming there are no ground fires in the district but smoke is visible in the Porpoise Bay area.
Pike says unfortunately, the local fire department doesn’t have the resources on the air quality and they depend on the Forest Service to collect that data.
However, Pike adds the levels right now is fairly moderate to light.
