BC Wildfire update

No official numbers are being provided for now but BC Wildfire Service says there has been a ‘big’ upsurge in registration for people who have evacuated.

Provincial Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek says there were 17 new fires over the weekend but they’re not major.

Skrepnek says there are currently about 3000 people working under the BC Wildfire Service, 450 people have come from other provinces.

The province is getting help from Austrailia, as 50 specialists are expected to arrive in Vancouver on Wednesday.

Skrpnek adds light wind is expected today(mon) and tomorrow (tues) which should help their cause because the wind has been one of their biggest challenges so far.
