BC wildfire update

More than 14000 British Columbians have evacuated their homes because of the wildfires and that number is expected to rise significantly because most people who have evacuated haven’t registered with the Red Cross Yet.

However, Provincial Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek there’s only one fire they’re aware of in the
Coastal Fire Centre.

So far, there have been 599 confirmed wildfires in BC and the current cost estimate is around $53.5 million.

Skrepnek says the main priority going forward is to focus on public safety and to keep the highways and evacuation routes open.

The best way to stay updated on the wildfires and what you can do if you’re on evacuation alert is to visit news.gov.bc.ca.
