Local fire departments with reminder of fire ban

If you’re out camping or plan to head to the beach at some point, it could cost you if you decide to have a fire.

Gibsons Fire Chief Rob Michael says there’s a bit of an emergency in BC so they’re trying to make sure that the residents are protected locally.

Michael says the only item that’s allowed is CSA approved appliances.

The Gibsons Fire Department is also asking residents not to call their non-emergency line if you see someone flicking out a lit cigarette, while driving, despite a social media post that was shared online which suggested the opposite.

Michael says the fire department’s hands are tied when it comes to this situation.

He says as much as they are concerned about the impact of someone flicking out a lit cigarette in moving a car, there’s not much the department can do.
