Fire crews battle residential fires in Nanaimo and Parksville

Fire crews were called to a house fire in the 600 block of Railway Avenue in Nanaimo last night (Thurs).
The fire started in a duplex and spread to a neighbouring duplex.
One resident was sent to hospital with injuries.
An investigation into the blaze is underway.
Fire crews in Parksville were also busy Thursday night when they got a call to the four storey Ocean Terrace apartments.
There had been some work done on the rooftop of the complex during the day and fire crews are thinking the fire may have started as a result of that work.
No one was injured but there may be some pets unaccounted for in the 32 unit building.
There is significant damage on the 4th floor of the building.   (stock photo)
