Effective at noon tomorrow (Thurs) all open fires, including campfires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
That’s with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the “Fog Zone”.
The Fire Centre’s Marg Drysdale says the prohibition is due to increasing temperatures and no precipitation in the weather forecast…..
Drysdale says the fire danger rating has been increased to high which isn’t unusual although it did happen a little later than usual this summer….
This prohibition will remain in effect until late October and it covers all BC Parks, Crown lands and private lands within the Coastal Fire Centre.
