The Liberals Throne Speech contains many NDP election promises

Premier Christy Clark says, in the Speech from the Throne, it’s time to take better care of each other.
As promised it includes a ban on corporate, union, and third party donations, including in-kind, to political parties and it includes a promise of a referendum on electoral reform.

The Throne Speech promises a new provincewide Poverty Reduction Strategy, with a particular focus on children.

There’s also a plan to increase the number of RCMP officers dedicated to drug enforcement by 30 per cent, accelerate access to MRI’s, hip and knee operations, and fully eliminate MSP for B.C. families.

The government is promising to work to build light rail on southern Vancouver Island and a passenger ferry connection between Vancouver and Nanaimo.

On housing the government is promising to build 50,000 new units over 10 years as part of a new Rent-to-Own program for the middle class.

The government says it will move forward with Site C to transition the economy away from carbon and raise the carbon tax by $5 per tonne per year, starting in 2019, up to a total of $50 per tonne by 2022.

Lieutenant-Governor Judith Guichon says the government recognizes that the message that voters sent in May.
The vote on the speech will be the first confidence test for the Liberals – a test they are expected to fail.
New Democrat Leader John Horgan says they are hoping to hold that vote as early as Monday.
Horgan also praised the election of Liberal M-L-A Steve Thomson as speaker, saying he hopes Thomson sees the role as a long-term position, rather than only staying on while the Liberals are government.
