The 2017 by-election for the vacant seat on Nanaimo City Council has officially been called by the Chief Election Officer with General Voting Day set as July 8.

Voting will take place between the hours of 8 in the morning and 8pm at nine locations across Nanaimo and from 10 to 6 on Protection Island.

Advanced voting will take place Wednesday, June 28th and again on Wednesday, July 6th from 8 to 8.

Mail-in ballot voting is also available to those who qualify and can be arranged through City Hall or by downloading and printing the application form from the 2017 By-election page on the City website.

13 candidates have put their name forward for the seat of Councillor for the remainder of a four year term ending in October 2018.
