Highway 19 at the Little Qualicum River Bridge was closed for a bout 40 minutes yesterday afternoon (Tues) to accommodate ambulance crews.
There was a single vehicle collision just after one o’clock.
The driver of a 1996 GMC Yukon SUV that was travelling in the southbound lane, lost control and left the roadway.
The SUV went down an embankment where it rolled into a ravine.
The driver and lone occupant, a 25 year old man from Bowser was conscious and alert but in significant discomfort.
Crews had to use the jaws of life to get the man out.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
