RDN chair calls budget a “conservative” one

The Chair of the Regional District of Nanaimo says their budget is a conservative one.
The Board is poised to adopt it at the end of the month.
In a report to the Board, the District’s manager of capital accounting and financial reporting says the most significant financial pressures over the next few years are driven by capital upgrades to assets like pollution control centres, the landfill and various water services.
Chair of the RDN, Bill Veenhof says there is a asset management plan being put in place….
As for the 2016-17 budget, Veenhof says, for the most part, residents will be looking at tax increases relative to inflation, between 2 and 4 per cent.
