Police look for a couple of jewellery thieves

Nanaimo RCMP is looking for a pair of suspects following a theft from a north end jewellery store.

Police say the pair, who said they were father and son, asked the lone clerk to remove various pieces of jewellery from the display case and while she was distracted, one of the suspects pocketed a bracelet.

The clerk didn’t notice the missing bracelet, valued at 1,800 dollars until the two men had left.

The suspects are described as being of Eastern European descent and had strong accents.

Both were dressed all in black and one wore a traditional Russian fur hat with flaps that fold down.

One man is described as about 60 years of age, while the other was in his 30’s.

Police say the men had visited several other jewelry stores throughout the day in Nanaimo.
