Island Coastal Economic Trust says job growth in region has been strong

The Island Coastal region has posted solid job growth of 1 point 7 per cent year over year.
The Island Coastal Economic Trust says that’s contrary to recent reports that job growth has been limited to Vancouver and Victoria.
Chair of the Trust, Phil Kent says job growth in full time employment increased by 6 per cent year over year although he can’t say for certain what kinds of jobs were created….

The Trust is reporting job growth, in it’s region, in public administration, construction, manufacturing, information, culture and recreation as well as building and other support services, finance, insurance and accommodations and food services.
The Island Coastal region includes all of Vancouver Island outside of the Victoria metropolitan area, as well as coastal areas from Powell River north to the Central Coast.

It excludes Sechelt and Gibson which are part of the metro Vancouver Economic Trust.
