2 men facing multiple charges after Qualicum Beach arrest

Two men from the Lower Mainland are facing multiple charges after a crime spree that ended in Qualicum Beach.

Oceanside RCMP got a call from staff at the Qualicum Beach Inn on October 2 at 4:00am about a break and enter in progress. Two men had broken into the beach access door, stolen various items and fled out another door. There was also a van in the parking lot believed to be associated to the suspects.

RCMP officers surrounding the building and found one man, Darren Chernoff, hiding in bushes. He was arrests following a struggle, during which one officer received minor injuries. The other man, Adam Sicotte, was found hiding in the van.

The men were taken to the Oceanside RCMP Detachment, and police got a warrant to search the van. Inside, they found two firearms, including a handgun and a shotgun. They also found ammunition, several stolen items including tools and credit cards and a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine. The stolen property links them to several other files in the Oceanside and Greater Victoria area.

Chernoff and Sicotte have been remanded in custody. RCMP are recommending more than a dozen charges.
