One person is dead, and another in critical condition after a crash that shut down the Nanaimo parkway for several hours overnight Monday
Two vehicles collided on the stretch between Northfield and Mostar just before 10:30pm, one of the vehicles burst into flame.
RCMP say a southbound Suzuki Sidekick, being driven by a 35 year-old Nanoose Bay man crossed into the oncoming lanes and hit a smaller sports car heading north in the fast lane.
The 19 year old man at the wheel of the sports car died at the scene.
The older man was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital, and at last word was in critical condition.

RCMP are still investigating, and haven’t said why they think the Sidekick ended up in the wrong lane
