Sunshine Coast RCMP say the body of a missing kayaker was found in Garden Bay Lake over the weekend.
Police were called out just before 9am on August 29th, after someone spotted the body, in the water near a swimming dock.
The BC Coroner’s Service has confirmed it was a 59 year-old local man who didn’t return after going kayaking on the lake on August 16th.
Constable Harrison Mohr says, “Although this comes as sad news for the man’s family, we hope that this will help them to feel some closure during this difficult time.”
The cause of death is still under investigation, but as there’s no sign of foul play RCMP have turned the file over to the Coroner’s Service.
