Residents want to turn part of Nob Hill Park into an off-leash dog park

Some Nanaimo residents would like to see part of Nob Hill Park turned into an off-leash dog park.

Sabrina Lorenz lives next door to the park. She says it’s one of the few dog-friendly green spaces in the area.

Lorenz says the park is underutilized, and there’s enough room to accommodate an off-leash area.

She says they’re gathering signatures on paper, and online. They’ve also launched a “Nob Hill Dog Park” Facebook page.

Lorenz says the Parks and Recreation Department seems interested in doing a pilot project in the park, similar to the one they did in 2013 at the Visitor Info Centre on Northfield Rd before establishing a permanent off-leash area.
