A man’s attempt to steal a taxi from outside the Departure Bay ferry terminal went horribly awry on Saturday.
Moments after he got behind the wheel, he crashed into a bus. He took off, and immediately hit another bus.
He sped off a third time, narrowly missing some people in a crosswalk, and the cab jumped a curb and ended up stuck in a chain link fence.
Constable Gary O’Brien of Nanaimo RCMP says that’s when some bystanders stepped in.
O’Brien says the 36 year old suspect is in custody until his court appearance August 4th.
