BC Ferries is reminding passengers to use a little common sense as the busy summer season kicks off.
Ferries says so far this month, they’ve had to call police to a terminal 15 times because of a suspected impaired passenger.
Deborah Marhsall of BC Ferries says the worry, of course, is that the passengers in question are going to drive.
She also says this isn’t just a problem on the major routes.
Marshall says this tends to happen every year at this time, and the numbers so far are neither worse nor better.
BC Ferries is reminding people they’ll take a zero tolerance stand to anybody caught drinking or doing drugs at a terminal or aboard a ferry. They’re also telling passengers not to hesitate about approaching a crew member if they see something worrisome.
