RCM-SAR volunteers putting their skills to the test at SAREX

160 RCM-SAR volunteers from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and the Lower Mainland will be at Camp Elphinstone near Langdale this weekend.

Ian Grantham with RCM-SAR says they’re participating in SAREX, an annual two-day training exercise, involving some very realistic-looking scenarios.

Grantham says they need to be prepared for almost anything.

RCM-SAR volunteers respond to more than 800 emergencies a year.

Mariners may notice more than a dozen RCM-SAR rescue vessels conducting exercises in Howe Sound between 10:00am and 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
