The Town of Gibsons says all the remedial work on the water system is complete, and they’re ready to end the temporary chlorination of water drawn from the aquifer.
Vancouver Coastal Health ordered the treatment of the water, and system upgrades, in Zones 1 and 2, as the result of e-coli contamination last summer
To help pay for those upgrades the Town is adding 154 dollars per property to the 2015 Water Parcel Tax.
The chlorination is off as of today, but it’s expected to take a week or so for all chlorine to dissipate from the distribution system.
VCH and the Town also say they’ll be testing the system more frequently in the future.
