Sunshine Coast COs seek tips on suspected bear poaching

Conservation Officers on the Sunshine Coast are looking for information on a suspected poaching case.

They say a bear carcass was found by hikers off a Sechelt area Forest Service Road on the weekend, and it was missing all four paws and the gall bladder.

CO Dean Miller says the case has them worried the foreign market for bear parts may be reaching the Sunshine Coast, and other bears could have fallen victim to poachers.

The public can make anonymous tips using the Conservation Officer Service’s RAPP Line, at 1-877-952-7277.
