Sunshine Coast family doctors introduce new Patient Navigator, Attachment and Assessment nurse

After a soft launch earlier this month the Sunshine Coast Division of Family Practice is ramping up new programs under “A GP for Me”.

The Division’s newly hired Patient Navigator, and Attachment and Assessment Clinic nurse were introduced at an event Thursday at Sechelt Hospital.

Dr. Jane Bishop (Pictured above with Navigator Cayce Laviolette and nurse Cathy Burke) says they held their first clinic earlier this week. And they’re working to make sure doctors and patients know about them and the patient navigator.

They’ve also launched an online Community Health Resource Directory called “FETCH“, and Bishop says future efforts will include work on recruiting and keeping doctors and a project with the Sechelt First Nation and the First Nations Health Authority.

Patient Navigator Cayce Laviolette can be contacted at 604-741-3180 or [email protected]

The Attachment and Assessment Clinics are Mondays in Sechelt and Fridays in Gibsons.  Call 604-885-8644 for an appointment.

A GP for Me is a province-wide effort, and programs have also been rolling out over the past couple of years in the Nanaimo and Parksville areas.
