Ladysmith Council still working on 2015 budget

The Town of Ladysmith is getting closer to setting the property tax increase for 2015, and the mayor says people are getting a bit confused about the numbers already out there.

Aaron Stone says the Cowichan Valley Regional District share of tax bills in Ladysmith is going up significantly, but it’s not going to be as big a hit as it sounds.

Stone says in dollar terms the increase is about $27 on a typical residential property.

Stone also says the 8 per cent hike in the Town’s own draft budget is really just a conversation starter, based on doing everything on Council’s priority list.

Council has more financial decisions on its plate Monday.
